About the Festival

Joshua Tree National Park, home of the eponymous and quirky-looking yucca brevifolia tree species has served as inspiration for musicians, poets, and thinkers through the ages. Its colourful history, beautiful scenery, and unique flora and fauna translate into a place with an elevated consciousness and a metaphysical vibe. Joshua Tree Music Festival has a homey and intimate feel. The organizers believe the “music is the soul of life, and that art enriches and saves lives”. The festival does not boast of well-known artists, someone you hear on radio but, a collection of performers that many will be hearing for the first time, people will go home with a new favourite act that they discovered in the desert. Put together by a group of friends and funsters, it’s more of a family-centric nature of festival. Far from the glitz, the glam and the massive cult following of California’s numerous other music festivals, Joshua Tree is more of a community driven gathering that attracts like-minded people to thoughtfully curated line-ups and its location inside a national park. Few music festivals have such comprehensive list of activities for kids as Joshua Tree. The aptly-named Kidsville has Yoga, face painting and music workshops among other activities.
